A £600,000 conversion project of the listed former Bank of Ireland building in Rathfriland for a local regeneration charity. The building is being converted into 4 apartments alongside a major renovation and conservation of the building and the banking hall. As a conservation registrant Sarah was able to work with the local regeneration charity to get approval for a grant fund for this project through the Architectural Heritage Fund.
Careful consideration to the design of apartments and services has resulted in minimal modern interventions introduced to conserve the historic fabric of the building. The tight budget required creative solutions on site and close contact was made with HED throughout the contract to ensure Listed Building Consent was adhered to.
Clients; Rathfriland and District Regeneration Co Ltd.
The project was featured on the BBC in 2022.
